Control who sees the variables

Merchant Detective lets you choose who can see the variables, allowing you to keep Detective turned on even while the store is live—while preventing the variable display from affecting the appearance of the store to your customers.

You just opened your new store, and traffic is good…but, despite all of your testing, few customers are making it past the shipping selection page…what’s going on? Well, with Merchant Detective you can get under the hood without letting anyone else know you are in there. Simply set Detective to only display for your IP address (and any you choose) and only you will see its output while everyone else carries on, business as usual. You can also use Detective’s “Share” feature to quickly let others see the results…perfect for when a module developer or consultant is lending a hand.

Show, hide, or save variables

Control how the variable results are shown. Along with the easy-to use tabbed display of variables on the page itself, you can also choose to hide the output in HTML comments on the page or save the results to file. The tabbed display also lets you control the font size of the displayed results, and choose which type of variables you want shown on the tabs (System, Global, or Settings/Local).

• Find the value of a variable that matches a term, contains, begins with, or ends with a specific term.
  

View system variables

Merchant Detective also shows you all the available system variables. These are often overlooked yet valuable triggers for things such as browser type, IP address, referring URL, cookie values, etc. All in all, these features add up to tons of time (and frustration) saved.
