1. How do I get my products into StoreMan? - Top

Initially, you need to FTP database files from an existing store on your server. After that point, you can either enter the products information from within StoreMan, or you can perform a flat-file import.

2. I installed StoreMan into a temporary directory to play around with it, now how to I get it to work on my actual store files? - Top

You should use the Windows Control Panel Add/Remove utility to remove the current installation of StoreMan and reinstall it in the appropriate directory.

3. After installing MS Office 2007, and starting StoreMan, I get a "can't open" message. What's up? Top

You need to uninstall StoreMan (use your Windows Control Panel Add/Remove utility) and then reinstall StoreMan to correct your registry settings.

4. I downloaded the demo version of StoreMan. After entering a bunch of real products, I have decided to purchase the full version. Can I just transfer the information to the full version? - Top

Not at this time. The StoreMan demo comes with a sample database for evaluation. It is only meant to allow you to check out the different features and see if they will work for you and your store. We recommend that you do not use the demo for creating actual information.

5. Can I install StoreMan on a bunch of machines so that many people can be entering information at once? - Top

The answer is Yes and No. Yes, you can install StoreMan on multiple machines (if they are all working on the same store), but you cannot have multiple people working on the same data at once. You must treat the data in a serial fashion: One person works on it, then updates the server; the next person downloads the updated data and makes their changes, then updates the server, and on and on.

Note that you must purchase multiple copies of StoreMan if you intend to install it in different locations or on different machines.

6. When I double-click the StoreMan.mde in Windows Explorer, why does it open Access 97/2000 but not StoreMan? - Top

You need to always use the StoreMan shortcut, located in the Windows Start menu (Programs/Phosphor Media/StoreMan).

7. I'm getting an error message when I use the FTP utility. What's wrong? - Top

First, make sure the FTP Site, Username, and Password are entered correctly in the FTP Setup window (StoreMan) or the Profile (StoreMan Pro). One wrong or missing character, even uppercase when it should be lowercase, will cause the FTP operation to fail.

Second, make sure that the Server Path is correct. It needs to start and end with a '/' character. This accounts for a lot of support issues when first setting up StoreMan.

Third, make sure you are online (hey, it can happen to anyone).
