1. Is StoreMan compatible with OpenUI? Are there any issues I need to be aware of?

StoreMan has been fully compatible with OpenUI from the beginning. The basic product databases are identical between the two UI versions (MMUI and OpenUI); the only difference being that certain files have a slightly different name (e.g mmuicats.dbf or ouicats.dbf) and a different location on the server (/mmui or /oui directories).

2. I'm considering switching from MMUI look and feel, to OpenUI. Will my copy of StoreMan still work? - Top

Yes. You only need to switch StoreMan's look and feel setting.

3. I edited my database files in Excel. Now they won't show up properly in StoreMan. What's wrong? - Top

Excel is a poor database editing tool. The dBase III type files should only be edited by a dBase editor. Editing your files in Excel can irretrievably corrupt the files, rendering them unusable in StoreMan (and thus in Merchant as well). Although StoreMan supports importing from Excel, this feature is based on the use of special Excel templates that we provide which include specific instructions that tell Excel not to mess with data types.

The short answer is - if you want to preserve your database, don't edit in Excel.

4. I have added extra fields into my database. Can StoreMan let me manage these? - Top

No, StoreMan will only display standard database fields. You will be able to use the database tables, but you won't be able to see or edit information in the new fields.

You also will not be able to use Import, which relies on strict adherence to standard database structures.

The one exception is that StoreMan Pro will let you see and edit an added field via its Table Edit feature. This feature is meant for occasional editing, not wholesale changes, but it is available.

5. I'm using an OpenUI module to change the way some Merchant features appear. Can StoreMan handle this? - Top

StoreMan is not affected by most, if not ALL OpenUI modules, with the exception of Modules that modify the standard databases. That being said, StoreMan doesn't provide support for entering data for these modules.
